How to Swap the Inspire Tailjack PCB
Welcome to Workshop #203 of the ENYA MUSIC Workshop series. In this guide, we’ll show you how to safely replace the tailjack PCB on your Inspire smart guitar.
The process is straightforward and requires only a Phillips-head screwdriver and careful handling. Follow this guide step by step to safely disconnect the connectors, remove the old PCB, and install a new one.
⚠️ Pro Tip: Take your time when unplugging the connectors. Never use brute force, as excessive force may damage the delicate connections. Keep all small screws organized during the process so they are easy to find during reassembly.
#1 Remove the Backplate and Battery
Before accessing the tailjack PCB, first remove the backplate and battery from your Inspire.
Once the battery is removed, you will have a clear, unobstructed view of the internal PCB area and the connectors attached to the tailjack PCB.
#2 Unplug Wires & Connectors
With the PCB exposed, you will see three PH connectors and one IPEX connector attached to the board.
Carefully unplug all connectors from the PCB. Make sure to take your time and gently remove each one.
Do not pull with excessive force or directly tug on the wires. Handling the connectors carefully helps prevent accidental damage during removal.
#3 Remove Screws & Old PCB
After all connectors have been unplugged, locate the two screws securing the tailjack PCB.
Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, carefully remove the two screws holding the board in place.
Once the screws are removed, gently lift the old PCB out of the guitar.
#4 Install the New Tailjack PCB
Place the replacement tailjack PCB into position inside the cavity.
Reverse the removal steps to complete the installation:
- Secure the PCB: Thread the two screws back into place and tighten until snug.
- Reconnect Wiring: Plug the three PH connectors and one IPEX connector back into their respective headers.
- Restore Power: Reinstall the battery and securely reattach the backplate.
Ensure all connectors are properly seated before completing the final reassembly.
#5 Complete the Replacement
After reconnecting everything, the tailjack PCB replacement is complete. You have successfully swapped the Inspire tailjack PCB and can continue enjoying your instrument.
