How to Swap the Inspire Battery

Replacing the battery on your Inspire instrument is a straightforward process. Equipped with a Phillips-head screwdriver and a careful hand, you can swap out the internal battery in just a few minutes. Follow this detailed guide based on the official teardown to ensure a safe and successful replacement.

#1 Remove the Screws

Start by laying your instrument face down on a soft, flat surface (like a repair mat or a towel) to protect the finish. Locate the electronic backplate on the rear of the body and identify the hidden retaining screws holding it in place.

Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, carefully unscrew and remove them. Keep the screws in a small tray or magnetic bowl so they don't get lost.

#2 Remove the Backplate

Once the screws are out, you are ready to lift the backplate, but do not pull it away forcefully! Be careful with the wire connected to the backplate. Lifting it too quickly can sever the connection.

Gently lift the backplate just enough to peek inside the cavity. Locate the IPEX Connector on the green printed circuit board (PCB). This thin wire connects the backplate module to the main system. Carefully detach the IPEX connector to completely free the backplate from the guitar body. Set the backplate aside.

#3 Unplug and Swap the Battery

With the backplate safely removed, you now have full access to the main electronic cavity. Locate the Battery, which is seated inside a designated compartment and bordered by protective foam.

Find where the battery wire plugs into the main PCB. Gently unplug the old battery's connector and lift the battery out of the cavity. Insert your fresh replacement battery into the foam-lined compartment.

Crucial Wiring Step: When plugging the new battery into the PCB, pay close attention to the orientation of the connector. The red wire must be closer to the speaker.

#4 Reassembly

Once the new battery is securely plugged in right, you are ready to close up.

Carefully reconnect the IPEX connector from the backplate back onto the PCB. Lower the backplate into position, ensuring no wires are pinched between the plate and the body. Reinstall and tighten the screws. You're all set! Power on your Inspire and enjoy your renewed battery life.
